Carnevale in Venice: All you need to know
The Carnevale of Venice is arguably the world’s largest annual party, lasting two weeks in the spring and ending on Martedì Grasso — Mardi Gras, also known as Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday — the day before Ash Wednesday.
This year’s Carnevale will begin on Saturday, February 8 and end on Tuesday, February 25 (Martedì Grasso).
One of the things we love about Carnevale is that Prosecco — the (un)official wine of Venice — is the wine of choice for the celebration.
If you’re heading to Venice this year to take in the sights (and the parties!), be sure to visit the official website for the Carnevale di Venezia (Carnevale of Venice) here.
It includes all kinds of useful information on ticketing, lodging, dining, transportation, and much, much more. It’s an essential read for all Venice-bound travelers.
In the weeks leading up to the festivities, we’ll be posting some fun tidbits about the event, its origins, and its wonderful curiosities.
Stay tuned!
